IN
IN a creative venture based on sustainability involved making ‘more out of less’. Using waste materials and abandoned objects collected over time, I have created three pieces of sculptural fashion art. Turning your junk into ours, I intend to educate the viewer about the overwhelming amounts of waste our society produces today. I hope to question the wastage we have normalized today in a manner that is informative and thought provoking yet fun and witty. This endeavor involves a mock auction using the art pieces created, the proceeds of which would be directed towards a social cause of getting a homeless person on the street ‘in’
The grants are also intended to be directed toward the construction and promotion of the plastic weave, an element of this project that I was truly passionate about. Made entirely from waste plastic, this one weave is multipurpose. Transforming from a bag, to a pillow case and to a hat- it is a three in one for the homeless. With the funds raised, I also intend to empower and educate the homeless on how the weave could be made using available waste material.

SHOP TILL YOU DROP!
The impact of discarded textiles on the environment is equivalent to carbon dioxide emissions of nearly 7.3 million cars. Our consumption of goods emanates as a function of our modern lifestyle. However, what one needs to realize is that the production and consumption, of these products takes a toll on our natural resources. Our buying habits are destructive and in the long run will be choking, literally- for the planet and ultimately humanity. To portray this concept I have used hangers in this art piece to create a fashion accessory- a choker, representing consumerism and the choking effects it has on the environment.

WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE!
An astounding fact not many are aware of is that, 3. 20 million trees are cut down every year to make the paper cups that we drink out of and casually discard. Every four paper cups manufactured is equivalent to one pound of carbon dioxide emissions. How many cups of coffee have you had in the last10 days?
Time to wake up and smell the coffee!
TURN ME ON!
It is proven that LED lights are up to 80% more efficient than regular lighting. As 95% of the energy in LEDs is converted into light, only 5% is wasted as heat. It’s time to switch it up. The choice is clear, that’s a light that clearly shouts out-
‘Turn me on!’
