Salvaged is a fashion brand that aims at combatting the problems of overproduction of fabrics and textile waste in the fashion industry by introducing a new system of creating clothes. In observation of the large surplus of unused clothes in thrift stores, Salvaged will upcycle and repurpose old items of clothing into new pieces. As seen in the designs here, it will turn tops into pants and vice versa, for instance transforming khaki pants into a top or white college shirts into trousers. The emphasis of these designs is on the original seams, in order to appreciate the previous lives these garments had while giving them new purpose. In keeping our designs accessible to all, they are gender non-biased and the restructured patterns will be uploaded onto the internet and available for people to access and recreate. Through the use of Salvaged patterns, people can become part of a community and participate in sustainability directly. It is our hope that supporting open source clothing would help bring a more sustainable and humane future.
